Into the Sunset Novel – Sadie felt the shock hit her like a wall when she walked into the bar and saw her boyfriend entwined with someone else. The sense of betrayal was overwhelming. Her heart heavy, she crossed the room to the bar and requested a double shot of tequila. Her boyfriend was aggressively pecking a hooker Vanessa. They were acting like a couple of teenagers who were hot and needed a room. She took bottle in her hand and slowly walked over to the table where her husband was being unfaithful. In one swift motion, she smashed the bottle against the table’s edge, breaking through their obliviousness. The two love birds broke apart. There was no guilt there, only the shock of seeing his wife here of all places.
Wrench (Seth) The afternoon had been like most, Boring as jail. Once I finished my work at the shop, I would come over and hang out at the bar. I would not complain about the fact that we were having any drama with the club right now. Sinner’s Pride was an MC that was trying to stay legit. We had previously been in Texas and our dealings were not so much on the up and up. Reaper our Prez had talked it out with us and we all decided that we were done with the danger of being involved in the things we were. We sold everything in Texas and moved here to this small town in North Carolina. Centerville was a bible town through and through. Funny thing was that most of the people wanted to live a double life and keep the Bible part for Sundays only. The old motel we bought was so cheap we could do a lot of work to make it perfect for our club.
Some of our members had families and didn’t leave with us. So there were only ten of us at the moment. We had a construction company, a bar, and my garage. We were completely legal and hoping to grow our numbers, but it was a slow go for now. We bought the place six years ago, and I had only moved out here a year and a half ago. We wanted to give the town time to get used to us, so we moved out here a little at a time. As the Vice President I held the fort down in Texas and was the last to leave. “Can I get another beer?” I ask. We had hired a few local girls to help run the bar. “Sure thing Wrench.” Macy says with a flirtatious smile. One thing the club didn’t do here is have club girls. In Texas it was free for all and we had more club girls than members. I wasn’t one to be into all that mess and I wouldn’t complain that we didn’t have that here.
Macy had been trying to get my attention since I moved here, but she wasn’t my type. I felt like the girl was trying too hard to get my attention. I know I wasn’t the only one she flirted with, either. A lot of girls liked the idea of being with a biker. They thought it was all bad boy charm and rough intercourse. I guess it could be, but I didn’t want a woman who was after an image. I wanted a woman who wanted me, Seth. Calling me by my name was reserved for my Old Lady only, and as of three thirty this afternoon I hadn’t found her yet. The door opened, and no one batted an eye. I see a woman walking in who looked to be somewhere in her thirties. She was heavier but not huge. Her dirty blonde hair was up in one of those messy bun things on top of her head. Her black-rimmed glasses framed her light blue eyes. She was wearing what looked like her work clothes, a dress and flats. The woman looked around the room and then zeroed in on a table.
There sat a guy who had been coming in a lot lately. He was making out with a woman who had been coming in all the time. Vanessa. She had been sleeping her way through some guys who were in the club. Most of them said she was crazy and was looking for a biker to claim her. I had seen her with the guy a lot and they seemed to have been together for a while now. The guy would always come in after she had been here a while. Today though there was a new person in the mix and I had a feeling she was married to the guy. Her engagement and wedding band, though small, showed she was taken. I watched her with curiosity as she stood there for a few minutes watching the two idiots making out at the table. They were acting like a couple of teenagers who were hot and needed a room. Her pale complexion gave her another worldly look. You could tell she wasn’t one to wear makeup, but it wasn’t something she needed. She was beautiful without it.
I could see the dark circles under her eyes and knew that she worked too hard. From the way she carried herself, I knew she wasn’t overweight because she didn’t care. She had the body she did because she didn’t have enough time to take care of herself. She probably ate whatever she could quickly so that she could take care of her family. She most likely had health problems from overworking and not resting properly. The woman looked like she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. She turned and walked over to the bar. She placed a twenty down. “Double shot of tequila, please?” Macy poured it and handed it to her. Macy’s reaction let me know she picked up on the same thing I did. That woman was married to the jackass making out with Vanessa and she was seeing it for the first time. The woman drank the double flinching. She wasn’t normally a drinker. After closing her eyes, she took a deep breath. She opened them and turned to me. She looked me in the eye and then down at my empty beer bottle. “May I have that?” She said, pointing to the bottle.
Her voice was quiet and kind. It broke my heart to hear such a gentle soul having to ask for something. I nodded my head and passed her the bottle. She took it in her hand and slowly walked over to the table where her husband was being unfaithful. She watched for a moment as the two of them practically ate each other’s faces off. Neither of them noticed anyone was there. She raised the hand holding the bottle and brought it down onto the edge of the table breaking it. The two love birds broke apart. Vanessa smirked at her while her husband looked at her shocked. There was no guilt there, only the shock of seeing his wife here of all places. “You know, I’ve put up with a lot over the years. You’ve insulted me about my appearance, cooking, cleaning and even the way I work at my job. And yet I always took it. I never fought back. When you were wrong, I never told you. I even held my tongue as you turned my son against me. But this? This is where I call it done.” The woman says. “Sadie…” Vanessa says. The woman points the broken bottle at her, shutting her up. “I think you have said and done enough already. Don’t’ you think?” Sadie says, turning her head to the side as she talks.
The husband jumps up and puts Vanessa behind him. “What in the jail do you think you’re doing here? How dare you threaten her with that! Are you so screwing pathetic that you can’t let me go without chasing after me?” The man calls out. By this time, the entire bar is watching the situation unfold. Some are recording it on their phones while others are laughing at the woman who has been called out by her husband for being pathetic. “Once again, I think you also have done enough.” She says softly. “I never threatened her at all. I was merely pointing an object at her. I’m far enough away from her that there’s no way I could hit her.” The husband looks confused and I want nothing more than to beat his face in with that bottle. Reaper has come out of the back and is watching the situation. He comes and stands next to me seeing that I’m ready to pounce at any second.
“I’m here because someone texted me and told me to come and find you here. I don’t care anymore that you’re screwing someone else. She can have you. Let me tell you what is going to happen. I’m going to go home and pack my things. I’m only taking my personal items. I’m going to leave my car and take my car that I had before we were married.” The husband laughed like he had just heard the funniest thing in the world. “I signed that over to Garrett. you have no car!” He and Vanessa laughed. “You are so worthless that no one is ever going to want you. You should give up any ideas of making it on your own now. You could always just stay on as my maid.” I walked up behind the woman and looked at the pathetic excuse of a man.
He hadn’t noticed me yet or Reaper who was walking up beside me. “She’ll be just fine. You will stay here while she gets her things. If you don’t, you’ll have to answer to my buddy, Wrench here.” Reaper growled out. “I’m here and I’ll take care of making sure she has everything she needs to get away from you.” I say. Vanessa looks at me like I’ve grown a second head since I never pay her any attention. “I don’t want the money in our joint accounts or any of the other things we had together. I will have a lawyer get in touch with you.” Sadie walked to the door and headed out. I followed behind her. I could hear Vanessa take in a quick breath before she started whining to the man. She wasn’t getting everything she wanted. If I had anything to do with it, she never would.
