Twin Alphas Human Mate Novel

Twin Alphas Human Mate Novel – Nick’s POV I was dragging my feet on finishing packing a small duffle with a few changes of clothes and other necessities when my brother tapped on my open door. I glanced up at him as he was leaning against the door jam holding an identical bag to the one I was packing. Everything about us was identical from our looks to our wardrobe, which we end up matching without even trying most days. But our personalities are very different. I’m blunt to a fault and tend to lack tact and finesse, Nate is a smooth talker, he can charm just about anyone. “You’re not done packing yet?” He asked dropping his bag on the floor and walking over to watch me finish up. “I don’t know why you’re in such a rush.

The weather sucks and the roads are closed. Remind me again why we have to go looking for our mate right now.” I begin to growl at him. Before he could say anything else there was another knock on the open door to my room. We all look over and see Blake Collins, our brother’s Beta, “You about ready to go Nick?” Blake’s mate Shay was from our pack, well technically they both were. Our brother had been given the Nightshade Pack as a reward for helping to save them from their Alpha who had gone crazy after losing his mate. He’d killed his children, his Beta and his entire family, and then had tried to kill his whole pack when he poisoned a celebratory meal with lethal amounts of wolfsbane. Fortunately he failed in killing most of the pack but quite a few were lost.

I feared our mate may have been one of them but I didn’t want to say anything to Nate about that. I’ve had the feeling for as long as I can remember that we would find our mate in that pack but I never sensed her in all our visits. “I just finished. I’m ready to run when you are.” I slung my bag over my shoulder and we all made our way out of my room. I placed my hand on Ray’s shoulder, “Thanks for sharing that with me. And I hope that one day we have the same kind of love with our mate that I sensed between you and Chelsea.” “You will my brother, you just have to find her first.” He smirked while slapping my back and walking away.

We walked out the front door and into the tree line the snow would have been deep but it had been trampled down by the feet of many people and wolves. I hugged Nate “Travel safe brother keep me linked on any leads” He hugged me in return “Will do. Keep me linked as well. I just know we’re going to find her. We’ll have our mate by spring mark my words.” his excitement was contagious. We stripped down and shivered as we shoved our clothes into our bags before shifting into our wolf forms. Being Alphas we are larger than your average werewolves who are larger than standard wolves. I looked over at Nate as he shook out his black fur. Even our wolf forms are identical. We lift our heads and howled at the same time a sound that was echoed back to us by other wolves in the area. With a final nod we turned and headed in opposite directions.

We had ran for most of the day then bedded down in a cave for the night. It’s easier to stay in our wolf forms, not only do we stay warmer with a covering of fur but we don’t have to worry about lighting fires to cook our food we can just scarf down the rabbits we’d caught along the way. Blake and Shay were wrapped around each other scenting and licking each other. I tried to ignore them but that was hard to do in a cramped cave. I turned to face the wall I can hear the breathing, the purring. I can smell… ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I glance over my shoulder and sure enough what had started as scenting escalated. Now I have 2 wolves going crazy with each other while here I am trying my best to ignore them. At some point in the predawn hours I had gotten hit in the head by a rather large pine cone. All of this added up to one of the worst nights of sleep I’ve ever had.

By the time the sun started to rise I’d given up on sleep altogether and instead of squeezing back out of the gap I got through last night I barged through the wall effectively ruining the hiding place. The squirrels run off through the trees angrily chattering at me and I respond to them by growling. I hear sounds behind me that can only be described as a wolf or wolves laughing. I turn to see Blake and Shay coming out of the cave looking fully rested and happy which just pisses me off more. I walk by them growling slightly at Blake as we made our way to a nearby stream to get a drink before finishing up the rest of our journey. I figure at the rate we are going we should make it to the pack house just in time for lunch. The idea of a hot meal and a shower sounded like heaven. Just when I was getting really hungry we come to the edge of the treeline in front of the pack house. I quickly shifted back to human form and got dressed in a pair of jeans and a black tee shirt.

We walked in through the front door where we were greeted by my brother Mitch and his mate Selene as well as their Gammas Peter and Heather. There were a few other people too but I didn’t pay them any attention as I pulled my brother into a hug. “It’s been way too long. Why is it that I’m always the one to visit you and not the other way round?” I say while slapping him on the back. “It’s because you want to get away from Mom hounding you about mates and grandpups.” He chuckles while slapping my back in return. I was about to walk up the stairs when Selene says, “What am I, chopped liver? Aren’t you going to say hi to me?” I drop my bag on the floor and pulled her into a hug “Sorry Sis, I didn’t think you would want to smell a stinky old wolf who slept under a tree.”

I said while glaring at Blake. “Why would you sleep under a tree when there’s that lovely cave about halfway between our territories?” Mitch asked looking so confused. “Why don’t you ask those two horn-dogs over there?” I replied pointing at Blake and Shay who were standing there chatting with Peter and Heather. Just when they started laughing a smell drifted over my shoulder, Vanilla and Honey. Soft, subtle and something about it made me want to dive in and bathe myself in it. Kol howled in my head and was fighting to come out. MATE!

Nick’s POV I was about to turn to get my first look at my mate when I’m bumped from behind. I whip around and quickly grab her arm before she could fall. The tingles erupt in the palm of my hand and radiate up my arm. So this is what that feels like? I’ve heard it described so many times but it’s hard to imagine what it actually feels like. I look down into her eyes, her beautiful moss green eyes, her pixie face framed by long strawberry blonde hair that hung in loose waves over her shoulders and down her back. That’s when it hits me. Her face is slightly swollen and covered in bruises in various colors of healing. It looks like her nose had been broken recently. Her lip is split, there are stitches on the left side of her forehead.

My gaze travels down her body. Her left arm is casted and bound to her torso and there’s a cane hanging from her wrist. There’s a pink flower drawn on her cast, it looks like a child’s drawing. She is wearing a dress that doesn’t quite fit her like it wasn’t hers at all. Her left ankle is in a brace. It felt like I was staring at her for hours when in reality it was only a second or two. I see the shock in her eyes when I touched her but I didn’t see recognition. I don’t see understanding at all. In fact she looks confused. I take another deep breath, that’s why. She’s HUMAN! I can’t keep the disgust from my voice as I drop her arm warning her, “Watch where you’re going” I storm away. I don’t even grab my bag or head to my room to take the shower that I wanted I just stomped off. I needed to get away from her, get away from her smell, get away from the mate bond that wanted me to take her broken body into my arms and peck every cut, scrape, and bruise.

I storm into my brother’s office and slam the door. I start pacing the floor running my hands through my already messed up hair. FUCKITY! Why are we mated to a weak little human? She probably slipped on some ice and fell down. Humans are weaklings! They get hurt so easily and take so long to heal. How is such an inferior creature supposed to lead a pack the size of ours? Kol was screaming at me to go back to our mate. To claim her. To make her ours! The office door opened and closed without me looking at it. I knew it was Mitch. He stood there watching me wear a track in his carpet. After a little while he cleared his throat and stepped around me and taking a seat at his desk. “Are you going to tell me what that was all about?” he asked steepling his fingers on his desktop. I look up at him. In that moment he looked every part the Alpha that he is.

He’s calm, controlled, and there’s a glint of humor twinkling in his eyes. He’s enjoying watching me lose control. I growled at him. How was I going to explain to him when I didn’t even know myself? He sat there holding my gaze until I calmed down a bit and sat down in the chair opposite him. I took a deep breath and opened my mouth only to close it again. Yup I still don’t how to explain what was going on without sounding like a total prick. My wolf’s voice echoes through my head saying I am being a prick. “Do you know why I’m here?” I asked hoping that somehow I can figure out what to say. “I take it the reason isn’t because you missed your baby brother so much that you were willing to travel through the wind and cold just to see me?” He said with a smirk. He knew why I was here, I’m sure of it. Blake probably told him. “No. I’m here because it is time that Nate and I find our mate. We figured we would divide and conquer. I am basing my search from your pack and he’s basing his search from Jackson’s.” I told him.  He just continued to stare at me, waiting for me to elaborate.

This is a classic move straight out of Dad’s playbook. Let them hang themselves. All of a sudden I felt like I was being called to task even though Mitch was my younger brother. “We’re expecting the search to take a bit of time.” Now I am debating about whether I should tell him that the weak human in his pack house is my mate. If I do end up rejecting her, Kol growls in my head letting me know he does NOT agree with that plan, the fewer people who know she’s my mate the better. Seeing that I wasn’t going to say anymore Mitch cocks his eyebrow at me before saying, “That’s fine but that doesn’t explain why you were so rude to a guest in my home.” “It was just a weak human who bumped into me. Why’s it such a big deal?” I can feel Kol roll his eyes, so much for not sounding like a prick. “Just so you know that weak human, as you said, is a fighter.

She’s stronger than she looks.” He defended her. “Is that how she got hurt? She picked a fight that by the looks of it she lost?” I scoffed Mitch looked at me and rolled his eyes. “No brother she didn’t get into a fight. You know what? I’m not going to tell you about her. She has earned the respect of some of the members of my pack including Selene and Heather. The ladies consider her a friend. If you’re going to be staying in my pack house for an undetermined amount of time, can you at least be civil to her?” “How long is she staying here?” A part of me wants her gone, the human part of me, however Kol wants to be right next to her, always. Before he can answer the call to lunch is heard and we make our way to the dining hall. As soon as I enter the room I can smell her. She’s coming in flanked on either side by Selene and Heather. Mitch wasn’t lying, the way the ladies looked and talked with her was like they’d been best friends for their whole lives.

They helped her sit on the opposite side of the table from my seat but about halfway down.It makes sense because she has no ranking, no position that would give her the right to sit at the head of the table. EXCEPT SHE’S OUR MATE! Kol’s voice rings through my mind. I shake my head and notice that the food had been brought out and Mitch is standing to give thanks. I give the appropriate response. After Mitch fills Selene’s plate, an act of love and a showing of respect and care, I start to fill my own plate. I glance at her and see she is just sitting there. Why isn’t she eating? She needs food if she has any hope of healing properly. I continue watching her and see Clay, Blake’s younger brother, lean over and start talking to her. Kol starts to growl. He doesn’t like seeing any male wolves near his mate but especially not unmated male wolves.

Kol has already completely accepted her, I’m the one with reservations. I watch as Clay fills her plate and it takes all of my focus not to go over there and throw him through the nearest window! “You didn’t like the shape of your spoon?” Mitch asked chuckling. I looked down and noticed that I had made a fist so tight that I had completely bent my spoon into an unusable shape. “Sorry, I… I must be on edge from the trip.” I said as I set the spoon aside and grabbed a sandwich. “Are you sure it in’t something else?” Mitch asked with raised eyebrows. “Positive” I deadpan. The conversation around the table is joyful as Blake and Shay fill everyone in on how their families are doing and giving them the latest gossip. I’m grateful they’re doing the talking because I’m having to focus on not going over and punching Clay. Every time he puts food on her plate, or says something that makes her laugh, Goddess she has a gorgeous laugh even though I can tell it hurts her to do so. I see her smiling and waving as the group of kids ran out of the dining hall.

Her smile lights up her whole face. Perhaps she’s made a friend with some of the younger wolves. Good with kids is a great trait for a Luna. Kol whispers in my head and I ignore him. But I keep stealing glances at her, I’m drawn to her much like a moth to a flame. Lunch is wrapping up and I see Clay help her stand and offer her his arm as they slowly walk out of the room and down the hall. Had he invited her to his room? Clay was a bit of a man bimbo. I quickly excused myself and followed them down the hall just to see them disappear into the elevator. I ran back to the foyer and start going up the stairs. I hear her voice coming from the medical wing. “See you at dinner.” then I hear a door shut. Clay bows his head in my direction as I start to go down the hall. “Good Afternoon Alpha Nick” he says with nothing but respect in his voice.

“Good afternoon Clay. Who were you sitting by at lunch? I don’t recognize her?” I ask with what I hope was relaxed curiosity. “Oh, That’s Jemma.” He said her name like it was no big deal but I didn’t miss the spark in his eye. Jemma, that’s a pretty name, a name I would mind yelling while I….. Nope not thinking about that right now. “Is she your mate?” I already knew the answer to this question but I was hoping he would let his intentions toward her slip. “No, she’s just a friend. I was one of the guys that….” Before he could finish his statement his eyes glazed over. “Sorry Alpha Nick, I need to get out to the training field I’m already late. I’ll see you around” He calls over his shoulder as he sprints down the hall and disappears down the stairs. He was one of the guys that did what? I didn’t want to explore that train of thought because it led to nothing that was good. Instead I walk down the hall sniffing as I go so I can figure out what room was hers.

I didn’t have to search long, her scent is practically pouring out of her room, there is another scent mixed in very faintly but I can’t determine who it belongs to. I want to open the door so badly but instead I just rest my head against it. I hear her slow steady breathing indicating that she’s asleep. Kol wants nothing more than to go in there and curl up and take a nap with her. If I don’t walk away now I may just give in and let him. I push away from the door and walk up to the top floor and to my room. I walked into my room and flopped onto my bed. What I needed was a nap. She wraps her arms around my neck pulling me in tighter. I feel a weird movement between us, I know it wasn’t from me. She giggles and steps back and looks down before looking back up at me. She’s pregnant, very pregnant. As she looks up at me I notice her neck.

I see my mark at the base of her neck where it meets her shoulder on one side and Nate’s mark on the other side. “See I told you we would find them.” I hear Nate’s voice come from behind her he’s holding the hand of a little girl who looks just like us, dark curly hair that flows all the way down her back and the brightest bluest eyes. Obviously she takes after her Daddies. The little girl runs up to me and jumps into my arms.”Daddy can we go on a run later? I want to ride on your back and Mommy can ride on Papa’s back.” her voice was so excited. “What do you think Sweetheart? Should we go on a family run later?” I ask Jemma She turned around and wrapped her arms around Nate “What do you think Love? Would you like me to ride you later?” her words were obviously referring to something other than a run. Both Nate and I purred at the implication. He pulled her close and whispered in her ear but I could hear every word he said “You are welcome to ride me any time, any where, and for any reason you want.” I watched as he bent his head down and licked his mark on her neck.

I sat straight up in bed panting for air and with a raging hard-on. Before I could calm down Nate linked me. Nick, I saw her! I saw her face! What are you talking about man? I took a nap and I had a dream about her… He went on to describe in detail the exact same dream that I had. She has reddish blonde hair and the greenest eyes ever. She is gorgeous all rounded with our pup. Our little girl is absolutely adorable. I love that I’m Papa and you’re Daddy. But what I want to know is why I’m able to see her face now? I considered not telling him but if he had found our mate I would be pissed if he didn’t tell me. Actually Nate, I met her. WHAT MAN! Why didn’t you tell me? What’s she like? Are you bringing her home right away or do you want me to meet you there?

Does she really smell like vanilla and honey? DUDE! How can I answer any of your questions if you don’t shut up? I didn’t tell you right away because it’s not that simple. What do you mean not that simple? She’s our Mate it doesn’t get more simple than that. She’s human. He was silent for a few seconds before responding. So what. She’s still our mate. I sighed, I knew he would be like this. He’d been wanting to find our mate since we turned 16. 12 years is a long time to look and wait. It is even more complicated than that. I don’t see her being human as a complication at all but what else is going on? She’s here recovering from some serious injuries. OUR MATE’S HURT? I’m on my way!
