Lost Love Novel – The darkness slowly decreased. A ray of sunshine fall to the room. The room is filled with light colors. The clock in the night stand shows 6:30 am. Suddenly the alarm rang. Two people in the bed started twisting their bodies. James woke up from his deep sleep. He then looked at his side. There is a beautiful petite girl sleeping soudly. A smile creeped on his face. He felt blessed to see her first in every morning.He gently caressed her cheeks. The woman has a smile on her face even though she is sleeping. He went to bathroom. After a half an hour james came back to the room. His queen is still sleeping peacefully in the bed. James put his lips on her ears and murmered, “wake up, sleeping princess”.
Catherine is not a morning person.she pushed him to the side and went back to her sleep. This is there morning routine. It is James duty to wake his wife from her sleep and it is not an easy task. But James never got bored of it or he didn’t complain it. He went to other side and looked at her and asked, ” Don’t you remember today’s speciality” . “What specialty?”Catherine is still sleeping. James face showed a little sadness. He didn’t speak for a few minutes. Without hearing his answer, Catherine opened her eyes. She sit up from the bed. “You really don’t remember”, James again asked in a sad tone. Anyone can easily read his emotion from the face. He looked everywhere but not on Catherine. For the outer world, he is a strict business man but only his wife Catherine know how soft James is. She hold his hand but he shaked. ” Look at me” She asked. But he didn’t.
“I am sorry James.i was just playing with you, I know its our second wedding anniversary ” She laughed while saying this to him. James face Brighhtened up. He looked at her and asked ” You remember baby? ” . “Of course, it’s our wedding anniversary how could I forget? “. This answer made James relax. “I was just playing with you” She smiled and repeated to him. James was at the brick of tears. He has a hard heart. But any thing about Catherine make him vulnerable. So any small instance with her is his happiness. Wedding anniversary, cat’s birthday are all celebrated as festival. “Enough ,now get ready, we have to go to office “, James took his husband duty. He pushed Catherine to get up from the bed. Catherine reluctantly went to bathroom. After her shower Catherine came to room but James was nowhere to see. So she went to downstairs. She was welcomed by the aroma of sausage, fried egg and bacon. She went to him and asked ” Why didn’t you wait for me? I can help you.”. “You can help me by finishing the food” He answered putting the plates full of dishes.
“Honey, I am on a diet”,, she pointed towards her hourglass body. James shake his head. “No need of any diet, I want my wife to be healthy ” He patted her head. For James, Catherine was like a kid. James waited for Catherine to start. He kept glancing to her plates. James made sure she ate all the dishes he made. “Happy ” She asked to him with a loud voice.. “Very well” James made a satisfactory smile after seeing her empty plate. James took the plates to sink. “Jamie, I will wash the dishes “, Catherine told him. But James pushed her gently to the stairs. “We have to reach office before 9.00, so my wife please get ready. Your husband can take care the rest. ” James was well aware that she needs lot of time to get ready. Catherine opened her wardrobe. It is filled with many clothes. She chose a red one piece dress. Looking at the mirror, she turn around. ” Nice “, she said to herself. James opened the bedroom door but was stunned by the magnifying beauty of his wife.
He came behind and smooched her neck. “James, you scared me”, she put her hand on her heart. ” Mrs. Hills has no reason to get scared. Your husband is strong and powerful, he showed his muscle. “Yeah very powerful”, cat hit his tummy and walked to wardrobe. “Do you have doubts? “, he asked to her. “No Mr hills”, she laughed at him and he gave a nod. She gave his shirt and coat. He put it on looking at his wife. She button his shirt. “James, don’t forget our dinner with parents.”, she made him remember today’s event. “I want to celebrate our anniversary alone with you”, he softly pinched her chin. “It’s okay, we can celebrate after our dinner”, she replied to him. “Hmm, today you have a long night “, he smiled mischievously. “James… ” Cat is still shy. She turned all red. They both went to office. He went to the CEO chair and she went to marketing manager’s chair. After work, James waited for Catherine at the entrance. Finally, she finished her work.
“Sorry,Did you wait for long ? “, she asked holding his hand. “You are more busy than the CEO ” He arranged her loosed hairs and walked with her. During the drive to parents house James looked at the side seat and smiled. “What are you laughing at ? ” She asked before applying her lipstick. “Don’t apply anything more, I might take a u turn to home “, James answered. “If you let me get ready when we reached home, I didn’t have to get ready at this car”, Catherine complained. “I let you ready, when we reached home from office” James defended his side. “You were practically glued to my body”, Catherine said with high voice. “Well, what should I do? My wife is very beautiful that I couldn’t keep my hands off from her”, James hold Catherine’s hand and smooched. Catherine can’t get mad at him. She smiled at his cheesy smile.
At parents house (James parents) Cat opened the door and ran to James parents side. James father give a hug to Catherine. James mom smooched her and pulled her to a deep hug. “Cat, how are you?”. James father Mr. Jordan asked to Catherine who was still in the mother’s hug. “Mom can you let my wife breath “, James came from behind and pulled Catherine away from his mom. “Jealous much”James sister Susan laughed at her brother’s action. “You will understand it when you have a wife”, James joked in a straight tone. “Dad, do you get jealous when someone hug mom? “, Susan asked. Jordan put his hand in his wife’s waist and answered ” I don’t get jealous but I don’t like it.”. “That’s it”, james said. “Enough, let’s have dinner”, mother ordered. She took Catherine’s hand and walked her to inside. James ran to his wife’s side.
Jordan and Susan stand behind and smiled at James silliness. After dinner, James stand at the balcony with his father. They were talking about the business. “James you should concentrate more on business” His dad advised him. “Dad, company is in a good position now “, James assured him. “Yeah, but company can go down very easily. This was my father’s company. He gave it to me. I never selled anything only added the assets.”, Jordan smoked. “Dad, you can trust me ” James promised his dad. Jordan smiled. He know his son. IN HALL “Cat, when are you two planning for kids? “, James mother asked to her daughter in law. She has been waiting for her grand kids and even prepared gifts for them. Cat smiled and looks down. She doesn’t know the answer. It is not that she doesn’t want but James wants kids to born with silver spoon.
“Stop mom, let her enjoy her life being a wife”, Susan came for Catherine’s rescue. “What about you? “. If you have no boyfriend, then let your dad and me to select a guy for you”. “Arranged marriage, NEVER……..”, susan shouted. “Whatever ” Mom take the desserts plates from their hands. It is hard to argue with susan. “Cat let’s go! “, James came from balcony. “I think you should crash here. It’s already late”, Jordan looked at the clock. “It’s not a big deal, we can leave now”, James took cat’s hand. “Son, look. It’s too dark outside “, his mother said worriedly. “It’s fine mom,my car has lights “, he answered. Rest of them laughed while mom hit him. “Leave them mom. They have plans for tonight “, susan said giving a hint to her mom. “Oh!, then you guys can leave”, she finally let his son and daughter in law to go. “Be Careful” Jordan warned. They drive back to home. The car was going high-speed. Catherine told him to slowdown. But he didn’t hear her words.
He was too eager to show the gift he arranged for her. BANG…………….. Bright lights and heavy sounds were all they heard.The car hit to another. People ran around the places. Everything went to black. One year later At hospital Doctor Samuel came to his seat. He took the medical report in front of him and started reading it. “How are you feeling now Catherine? ” Doctor Samuel asked to her. His eyes are still glued to the letters in the report. “I am fine doctor. In fact I am feeling better “, Catherine answered looking straight at the doctor. She felt suffocated in the hospital room. She has been attached to hospital for an year now. “There is no need to worry. Your results are good”, Samuel took his eyes off from the report and looked at Catherine. “You should take care of your health”, he smiled. Catherine hummed in response. “James doesn’t come with you? “, Samuel asked not seeing him with her. “No, he has an important meeting today”, she answered. She has been saying the same excuse for many times. Doctor Samuel looked at her sympathetically. “Can I stop my medicines now doctor “, she asked breaking the silence between them. “Yeah, sure. You are totally recovered “, Samuel assured her with an encouraging smile. Catherine took her bag and left his room. She went to pick her car.
Past It has been one year that the night happened. The night that changed their life. A trucker ran to their car. It took only few seconds to take the happiness of James and Catherine. People gathered around the damaged car. They called 911. The ambulance came in seconds. Someone put James and Catherine in structures. James was conscious. He was aware of what is happening around him but Catherine wasn’t reacting. He wanted to cry so badly. But no voice came out. He looked at his wife’s body. His beautiful wife is covered with blood. The ambulance reached to the hospital. Doctors ran towards the the ambulance with structures. They immediately put Catherine in the causality. James was not badly injured. His leg has fracture. Doctors put medicine in the wound and gave sedation. He fall asleep due to the heavy pain. He was still murmuring Catherine’s name in his sleep . Catherine was in coma for more than two months. She was physically fine but her mental strength was not alright. Doctor told James that she can woke up at any time.
During the initial stage, James didn’t leave her bed side. But then his parents and candy asked him to move on. They encouraged him to start working again and forget all this problems. One morning in those hospital days. “James, look at yourself then look at company’s status. You should concentrate on your company too”, James mom told him. “Mom, Catherine is lying in this bed because of me”, he cried in his mom’s arm. The tears are rolling down from his eyes. James mother can’t see her son’s misery. “No son, it was a God’s decision. It was her fate.”, she hugged him and rubbed his back. Jordan and candy came to the James side. “James, I think you should divert your mind to work. Then it will be less painful “, Jordan encouraged James. James was sobbing.” No dad, I have to be here. I wanna be the first person she sees when she woke up.” “James, cat can woke up at anytime. What will she say if she saw you like this. The company that she too worked hard is in a bad position “, Catherine’s mother candy asked to her son in law. James looked at her then the lying Catherine. “I am a doctor, I can stay with my daughter whole the time “, she promised to James.
After a series of discussion and encouragement, James started working again. He comes to visit Catherine at morning before going to office and comes back straight to the hospital from office. Eventually his visits decreased. The duration of visit also decreased. One day, when candy reached to her daughters bed, she saw Catherine’s fingers moving lightly. Candy checked her and informed other doctors. They checked her medical condition. Finally, Catherine slowly opened her eyes. The bright lights made her hard to open the eyes. She shut the eyes tightly before opening it completely. She sit up from the bed. Her eyes were searching for James but he wasn’t here. Where is James, she thought of him. Is he alright her body tensed. “James is in office, I have already informed him. He will be here soon”, candy answered reading her daughter’s mind. Then it was long months of hospital life. She can only live there. She slowly came to her normal life.
After few months, she Disstarged from hospital. James missed the moment when Catherine opened her eyes. He wasn’t there during her recovery, he wasn’t there when she got Disstarged. In the home, she has to maintain a strict diet. Catherine quit her job to maintain her health. It was adviced by doctor. James was always busy with his office and meetings. So she became alone in the big mansion. Her life was located in this four walls. End of past The evening is filled with busy people. Everyone is running to their home from work. She drove car slowly. The past incident remind her to slow down the cars speed. The gate is opened. James car was already in the garage. She went to upstairs. James was in shower. Catherine pour a glass of water and drank it. He opened the bathroom door and walked to his laptop not saying anything to Catherine. “James, Didn’t you see me? “, Catherine asked to him. “Of course, I saw you.”, James said and then became silent. His phone suddenly rang. He looked at the phone then Catherine’s side and hang up the phone. “I went to visit doctor”, she told looking to the long distance. James hummed. He didn’t ask anything more. “Samuel told me to stop the medicine. He said, I am completely recovered now”, she added. James again hummed.
“James, can I ask you something? “, Catherine looked at James with hope. Without getting any response, she continued ” Can I start working again “. This caught James attention. He closed the laptop and came in front of her. She is looking at the door. “Cat, I want you to rest for more time. “, he answered with a worried tone. But his face shows that he is hiding something. “Samuel told that I am fine”, she assured him. “Stop it Catherine ” James shouted. ” I am working hard for our well being. I am doing it not just for me but for you too. We are a family. Can you just understand me “, he shouted and walked out of the door. Catherine sat their chilled. She made her mind to believe that he is just stressed otherwise he won’t shout at her. He has been stressed in these days. He doesn’t want me to work, it is because he wants me to be relaxed. James is working hard for me too. She repeated and asked her mind to believe these words.
Time skip Catherine waited for him in the bed. But he didn’t came. James has been sleeping in the study oftenly. Most of the night she has to sleep alone. The bed is large and cold to an alone person. She can barely sleep at night. Her mind wandered a lot. She can’t control her thoughts. There is no fight between James and Catherine. They don’t speak much. James has no time for Catherine. He goes to office early in the morning and he came home late. If he is in the house, he mostly spend it in study. Catherine glanced at the clock in the night stand. It showed 11.00. She got up from the bed and reached to the study. She put her hand in the door handle. catherine has a second thought. It is her husband in the study but something pull her back. Why should I go back? It is my James inside there. The boy she loved and the man she got married. At last she pushed the door. James was in his phone.she closed the door behind her and waited for him to hang up the call. She waited for a long time and then she again opened the door. He was still in the phone. “James aren’t you coming to bed”, her voice is sleepy yet waiting for him. “Cat you go first. I will come later. Don’t wait for me” he went back to the phone. She went to her room.She can only wait for him. She has been doing it for many days.
She usually do that and slowly fall asleep. The room has became lifeless. The voice of Catherine reduced. The smile in her face is faded. The natural glow is vanished. She is still unaware of her changes. This was also one of the alone night in her life. The night of a wife who is waiting for her husband. Next day Another morning came fastly. The alarm rang as usual. The clock in the night stand shows 5.00 am. A normal day in Catherine’s life with nothing special. She was not expecting anything new. Catherine slowly opened her eyes. Looking at the other side, she felt disappointed. It was usual but the same feeling flood in her mind. The side was empty. She sat at the edge of bed remembering their golden days. At that time she had to push him off from the room. He was glued to her. But now he rarely comes home. He didn’t came back last night. Pov of Catherine. My mind ran fast. My feelings are hard to explain. I am worried about James. His health. I am not selfish. I know it is not easy to be the head of the company. I don’t want him to sit with me whole the time.
But I hope he could at least talk to me when he is home. Like a normal couple. James won’t open his mind easily. He endure all the pain alone. If he can’t explain anything how could I know. He told me that there is no need of a maid here. It was true. I get satisfaction if I made food by myself. I prepared breakfast for James. Toast, mushroom,scrambled egg. He loves it. I decorated the plates and placed it on the table. James came from the upstairs. He is well dressed. I could notice the black mark under his eyes. I am sure he slept late last night. Why is he not focusing on his health. He is making me worried. “James, have breakfast. “, I hoped him to join me . James’s eye scanned the table.
He then glanced at his watch. I know that he is busy. “No time. I became alone in this big house. This house felt like a haunted place for me. I put the food in the waste bin. There is nothing special for me to do. So I took my phone and called James. He didn’t. Pick up the phone. He might be in a meeting. I know James when he is working. He gives him hundred percentage on there. That is one of the thing, I admire about him. I am lucky to have such a husband. I went to our wardrobe. I opened the lower draw. It has an album. It is filled with our photos. Me and James. We were always together. We were friends before then became lovers. Best friends. There was nothing that I don’t know about him. We grew up together. Our friendship turned to love. It then led to marriage.
BEEP……….. BEEP……… BEEP…. My phone suddenly rang. I ran to the downstairs hoping it was James. But… Phone call Catherine : hello Susan. How are you? Susan: I am fine. What about you? Is everything alright. Catherine: good. Susan: what did doctor advice? Catherine: nothing special. I can stop medicine. Susan: that is a great news. I called James last night but he was engaged. Catherine: he may be talking with his clients. Susan: He is always busy with this clients. Catherine: you know this business is not easy. Sometimes it scares me. Susan: cat don’t worry. You have to give importance to yourself and you know I am coming back. This time I have lots of time to be with you guys. Catherine: really. But you told me that you are busy. You have to travel around the world. Susan: well mom asked me to come back and I rejected. Now mom assumed that I have a boyfriend. Catherine: hahahah really. So you are coming back to prove that you don’t have any boyfriend. Susan: what is there to laugh? I am fed up with mom. A girl can live alone. I want to show it to her. I can understand his busy schedule. He has no time to show the affection to me. But he care about. I need to prepare an evening snack for him. I ran to the kitchen and started preparing the snacks. Ouch!!! My finger. I got a cut by the sharp knife. But it didn’t stop me. I continued with the preparation. It takes hours to prepare his favorites but I can do this for my James, for my husband. Finally it was all done. The dish gave a sweet aroma. I placed this on table so James can easily have it. I divert my eyes to the clock. It is already 3.30. I ran to my room hastily. I went to the bathroom. After a quick shower I wore a purple dress along with Cleopatra. He loves this perfume so much. I ran to downstairs and waited for him to arrive. The feeling was amazing. Waiting for my husband. Time ran but he hasn’t home yet. I waited patiently for James.
Finally I heard the sound of his car. I welcomed him with wide smile. “James how was your day”, I asked him. He put the bag on the couch. “Hectic ” He replied Unbuttoning the coat. “Oh! It’s fine. I prepared some snacks for you. Come have it. “, I called him. He looked at the table. “Come on “, I called again. He reluctantly sat on the chair. Opening the lid he took a cookie. He bite it and hummed. “How is it? I specifically made for you. “, I smiled at him. “Hmmm” He answered. Not a proper word but I am happy. I felt jumbing. His approval made my heart ran miles. I watched him swallowing the cookie. But it didn’t last long. James’s phone rang and he went to outside. After few seconds I heard the tires hitting the gravel. He left, I assumed. He didn’t came that night. I got a message that something urgent came, he will be sleeping in his office. Another alone night in my life.
