Lost Pup Novel – I, hereby officially banish you from the Black Wolfpack! You are no longer allowed on our territory and if you step one foot on my land you will be killed. Do you understand? Alpha James sneered. I was an alpha I mean how had I no realised this before. It is not your fault, you did not realise that your old pack was drugging us with wolfs bane to keep our power from showing. How dare those creeps do that to me, what have I ever done to them that could make them hate me so much was it the simple fact that I was an alpha. No Leila it is something more I do not know what but I always thought that your old pack was hiding something from us but I do not know what it is.
“I, hereby officially banish you from the Black Wolfpack! You are no longer allowed on our territory and if you step one foot on my land you will be killed. Do you understand?” Alpha James sneered. I had nodded my head in understanding and ran back to the pack house, up the stairs, to my cupboard sized room. I had grabbed my backpack that I had packed when I had thought about running away but never had the guts to do it. I couldn’t help but have felt slightly relieved. I had finally been leaving this hole and even though I had now been an outcast, I would’ve only had to worry about threats from rogues; not those who were meant to care for me.
I had run out of the pack house and shifted; running to the border of no man’s land. I had heard paws hitting the ground behind me. I turned my head and had seen Beta Jackson and the pack warriors running after me; nipping at my ankles causing enough damage to lessen my strides. I should have had known that they would’ve never let me leave without one last beating. I tried to tune it out as I had all other beatings they had given me.
After a while, I had come to the realisation that I was no longer being chased. I had been in no man’s land. A smile came formed onto my face as the realisation hit me. I was finally free. I was currently running across lands but I was not as fast as I could’ve been. Those endless beatings had taken their toll on my body. I knew I needed to find somewhere to stay, get food and a good rest. I decided to stop at the nearest town that was not in someone’s territory and find a place to stay. A fact that was not known by my previous pack was that I was rich. I had published a well-known book series ‘Hunters’; obviously being a werewolf story. Anyways, I had used a small amount of the money I earned and invested it. I was now a millionaire at the age of 14.
I had no intention to tell my former pack, for they would have just taken it all and used it to throw parties and get drunk. Though, I was never able to use the money because the pack would have found out, plus, they only let me out when they needed me to buy groceries. They didn’t even let me attend school. I decided to find a place to stay. I asked the owner of the cafe and she told me that there was a house a few miles into the forest that had been sitting there for a long while gathering dust. With no one wanting to buy it, it was considerably cheap and was surrounded by the forest with the nearest neighbours a few miles away. I suddenly realised after four hours of cleaning the kitchen and my new room that I had yet to mark my territory.
So other wolves still believed it was no man’s land I ran out of my house shifting going from tree to tree marking the borders of my land. So wolves would know this land was taken and to be wary and not cross my borders. After doing this I ran back to my home and found that my heating and water had been turned on so Nicholas had informed the companies of my buying of this house. I decided to go buy some things like paint, linens, detergent, washing up liquid, plate’s, cutlery, clothes and furniture everyday things I would be needing. With the home delivery service, I gave them my address and they told me they would deliver my things the next day. I felt hungry after this hard day’s work and went and bought two extra large pizzas a two 2 litre bottles of fizzy.
I ran back and cleared the dining room table and sat my food down then I felt a sudden shift in the air wolves there were wolves on my territory. My wolf growled she was pissed that someone would even dare cross our territory. My wolf tended to be on the more domineering and aggressive side something that had caused me to get more beats in the past. But due to the wolfsbane, they injected in me it took away my strength and made me heal less quickly. Though they had to give me double the amount they would normally give because my wolf was exceptionally strong. My wolf had felt smug about this it annoyed me no end for it made the hate me more especially Alpha James. I ran towards the border where the wolves scent was strongest and stopped I heard the rustling of leaves behind me. I turned and growled.
I growled I could smell the scent of wolves coming from the trees right in front of me. I growled again and heard a whimper suddenly two small wolf’s appeared one slightly older than the other they both looked bruised and battered most of my wounds had healed I was always a quick healer. But the wounds on these wolves were horrific and they were so small and fragile. My wolf stopped growling and I knew she felt the same as me all I could feel was pity towards these two wolves. Both wolves looked starved and broken I howled commanding them to shift surprising myself in the level of authority I showed through my voice it almost sounded like an alpha command. Ha like I could ever give an alpha command the two wolves shifted.
What I saw angered my wolf and me, the children looked scared out of their mind but I saw the boy stand in front of the girl protectively. That action made me soften my gaze even though the boy was scared he still protected here over himself I shifted back to talk to them to show I would not harm them. The boy’s stance in front of the girl dropped slightly though they both still looked weary of me with the boy still stood protectively in front of the little girl. “Don’t worry I won’t hurt you who are you both? What are you doing here all alone?” I said trying to reassure them through my voice I knew that they were no threat to me. They could stand I could see that they were beyond tired. The boy looked towards me unsure whether he should answer “my names Evan and this is my sister Elise I’m 10 and she’s 8 were from the dark crest pack”.
On the mention of their pack unshed tears were in his eyes I knew then that something terrible had happened. “It’s okay don’t cry” I walked towards them so we were only two feet away from each other and asked “what happened? Where are your parents Evan? The unshed tears in Evans eyes overflowed and were running done his face “our pack was attacked by rogues they tried to protect us and they …. they were killed.” The silence that followed was deafening I didn’t know what to say as Evan continued to tell their story ” mum and dad pulled the rogues away from us and told us to run were the only ones left from the pack the rest were killed.” I couldn’t help the tears that came to my eyes my heart hurt for what Evan and Elise had been through. They were too young to know the horror of rogues and a life full of torment.
I stepped forward and pulled them both towards me and hugged them as they both let out their tears. “Sshhhhh its ok don’t worry ill look after you guys I promise we can become our own pack just us.” “Really you promise you won’t hurt me or Lise” Evan whispered into my hair. “Yes, I promise I won’t hurt you guys, know why don’t we walk to my house it’s only a little walk from here plus I have pizza and drinks and we can get you all cleaned up.” I gleefully said happily, I wasn’t alone anymore I know had responsibilities so I couldn’t afford to mope around. “You really gonna take care of us and even give us pizza,” Evan said shocked from my words he pulled Elise closer they were so thin and it looked like they hadn’t eaten in a while.
“Yeah your apart of my family know and we all look out for each other no matter what”. I chanted to myself more than to Evan I knew that this is what the next few years would be filled with taking care of Evan and Elise. “Yaaaaay food “Elise giggled she looked so adorable I couldn’t help but join in with her laughter soon Evan joined in as well lightening the mood between us. “Come on you guys hurry before it gets dark,” I said pulling them both in the direction of my newly acquired house. I could see Elise stumble a few times and pulled her up into my arms and carried her the rest of the way. With Evan diligently following by my side when we got to the house I took the both to the refurbished kitchen and placed pizza pieces in front of them and a glass of water. I woke to the sun shining in my arms and the feel of two warm bodies pressed up against me. I slowly opened my eyes and saw both Elise and Evan snuggled into my sides I couldn’t help but smile they looked so peaceful and innocent.
I just couldn’t help but be surprised that they still had that air of innocence about them even after all that had happened to them. “Sissy you awake” Elise slurred with her sleep filled voice. I looked at her and couldn’t help but giggle Elise lifted her head up and her hair was sticking up all over the place. “Yeh kiddo I’m awake” I looked towards Evan who was snoring lightly against my side. “What do you say we wake up Evan “I smiled mischievously towards Elise she giggled while nodding her head at me. “Okay 1… 2… 3!!!!!!” we both jumped on Evan who screamed his little heart out while trying to get away from us. With both Elise and me tickling him we were all giggling and somehow we all ended up on the floor.
“Sissy I’m hungry can we have breakfast know” Evan smiled. I couldn’t help but smile these kids trusted me so full heartedly no one had ever trusted me before or asked for something, most of them would just demand everything from me. “Okay, I guess you’re hungry to Elise why don’t I make some chocolate chip pancakes how does that sound, ” I said while walking towards the kitchen and getting out the necessary ingredients. “Yay pancakes you’re the best sissy” Evan and Elise cheered while running to the kitchen. “Now why don’t you guys go brush your teeth there are extra toothbrushes in the bathroom cupboard”. They both nodded while running towards the bathroom while tripping over each other to see who would get their first. I giggled and got to making the pancakes the kids ran out and we all ate and chatted happily.
“Okay, guys I think we should go into town so that we can go and get some clothes for you guys what do you think” they both looked at each other then shouted, “let’s go shopping”. After a few hours of shopping for Evan and Elise and the house I was tired and hungry but both Evan and Elise were jumping about. I don’t know where they got their energy from but it was quite fun to see them running around enjoying themselves bit by bit I could see them relax and have fun instead of worrying. “Okay Ev, Lise come here let’s go to one more shop than we can go get some ice cream,” I said. “Ice cream can I get chocolate with sprinkles,” Evan said while jumping up and down. “Ooooh, can I get strawberry ice cream please sissy” squealed Elise while showing me that pair of puppy dog eyes that no one could resist. “Yep whatever you want, why don’t you guys play around the pond while I go inside the shop I won’t be long “I giggled. “Okay,” Evan said grabbing Elise’s hand and running off.
“Be careful” I shouted after them I went into the shop and bought some cleaning products for the bathrooms and the windows that I hadn’t been able to order before. While I was paying for everything Elise came running in with tears streaming down her face. “Quick sissy there is a man shouting at Evan he’s scaring me” she shouted I dropped my bags and ran out of the shop. I got outside and saw a tall, dark-haired, bulky middle-aged man grabbing Evans arm in a tight grip with another man of similar age glaring at him and trying to get Evan out of the other man’s grip. I ran towards them “What do you think you’re doing let go of Evan know what gave you the right to grab him like that” I growled at the man holding Evans’ arm.
He looked at me shocked and snarled “Listen girly this is none of your business this kid made me drop my bags in the pond and is gonna get it.” Evan looked scared “it was an accident sissy Lise pushed me and I bumped into him I didn’t mean to” he pleaded tears escaping his eyes. “You heard him he didn’t mean to make you drop your bags now let him go Mitch” the man who had tried to help Evan snapped at the man who was still holding Evans’ arm. “How does this involve you Drew that’s what I would like to know” Mitch shouted to the man known as Drew. “I wasn’t gonna let you hurt an innocent little kid for nothing know let him go or I’ll make you, ” he said in a calm tone. While all this was happening my wolf had come to the forefront growling repeating the words protect pups, protect our pack. Before I could figure out what she meant I heard a whimper from Evan and a smirk from Mitch as he tightened his grip on Evans’ arm.
I saw red how dare that foul man to try to harm and scare my pups. It brought forward all the past memories were I had not been able to protect myself know I had something to fight for. I grabbed Mitch’s other arm and twisted it back and punched him in the face. “How dare you think that you could hurt him and get away with it” I roared at Mitch I knew I was close to shifting. I pushed Mitch to the floor and pulled Evan into my arms which seemed to calm my wolf enough for me to pull out my purse and throw fifty dollars at him. “Take it and don’t you dare come near my kids again “I threatened as his eyes grew wide as he grabbed the money and ran.
“Thanks sissy you saved me “Evan whispered. “I told you I would always protect you remember” I whispered back pulling him and Elise into a hug. For some reason, my wolf was still on edge as I realised Dew was still standing there staring at me intently. I sniffed the air and realised what had alerted my wolf. Drew was a wolf. A rogue wolf. A Rogue wolf I couldn’t let him hurt the kids, I pushed Evan and Elise behind me as soon as I registered his scent and growled at him. I could see the look of fear that crossed his face before he covered it. “Don’t worry I don’t wish you any harm we were just passing through I didn’t know it was pack land” he calmly said while showing me his neck which shocked me. Wolves only show their necks to those who they view as their superior.
I couldn’t help but want to voice my confusion but my wolf answered my questions for me we are superior in rank and his wolf recognises that why else would he show his neck to us. What I thought Higher rank how could I be of a higher rank than Drew he was well muscled in his early thirties with blue eyes and blonde hair. I was just weak compared to him We are the alpha of our pack Leila do not put yourself down we have always held power but know it is no longer suppressed.
