Mission To Remarry My Unbeatable Ex-wife Novel – On our wedding night, my husband and I had a passionate night. But the next morning when he woke up and shattered my heart into a million pieces with the following words, “What happened last night should never have happened. It was a mistake, I was drunk. We should never have.” “Let me make a few things clear. My grandfather simply compelled me to get married to you which is why we are together now so do not expect anything from this marriage.”
TERRA’S POV: His Last Wish: “Girl, you were so awesome. You literally had all the girls in there staring at you with jealousy. If I may add, you looked beautiful while at it.” My friend since senior year of high school, Evelyn, praised me as we exited out of the studio carrying our changing bags with us. I gave her a small smile in response, as she had no idea that I put my whole energy and passion into it because I was stressed out. “Like I literally can’t believe you are dancing with only the basics from fifth grade. You’re really amazing for real, I’m so happy to call you my bestieeee.” She continued, holding onto my arms as we headed outside.
“You were amazing too, thank you for inviting me here today.” I smiled warmly at her, like I also do. Everyone around me often pointed out that I always had a smile on my face so it was hard to read me, and it was true. I only shed tears when it was too much for me and only got angry when I had reached a limit or after much disrespect. “And because we have been friends for so long, I know there’s something bothering you. So spill it.” She folded her arms across her chest telling me to go on. I sighed deeply, chuckling at her facial expression, her beautiful freckles she was once insecure about coming into light under the sunlight. Before I could utter a word, a familiar all black Bentley truck pulled up into the compound.
“My ride’s here.” I pointed and she rolled her eyes in a full circle removing her pink hair pack in order to let down her goldish-brown hair. “We are still going to talk about this but let me check if my favorite person in the world is in there.” She smiled heading straight to the car and I giggled following behind her. “He’s back at home resting. Just go home or go to your betrothed’s house.” She bucked at me and I did the same, making her laugh. “Alright then, bye sweetheart. I will call you or come around tomorrow to check up on you.” She hugged me and I exhaled deeply realizing I had really needed a hug these past few days. We bid each other goodbye and the driver opened the door to the back seat for me. I muttered a thank you before taking a seat and placing my bag on the seat.
I blinked repeatedly as the car zoomed off, I was headed straight to my grandfather’s mansion. I had arrived back in the states a few days ago and I had been spending time with my grandfather whom I loved more than anything in the world. I had been worried about him as he seemed ill on some days but covered it up perfectly. The only reason I even suspected he was sick was when I barged into the kitchen at midnight and met him trying to drink a glass of water but his hand kept shaking. He told me it was due to old age but just the thought of my grandfather passing scared me and had me sad. I scrolled through my phone until we finally arrived at the front of his luxurious mansion. I smiled thanking the driver then headed straight into the house.
“Welcome Miss Terra, your grandfather has requested for you to join him for brunch at the patio.” One of the maids, Mardy, said and I went ahead to the patio. As soon as I arrived there, I met my grandfather sipping out of the glass of red wine and strolling around the swimming pool. “Hey grandpa.” I greeted, announcing my presence and he turned around giving me a bright smile displaying the laugh lines next to his eye and wrinkles on his face as he smiled. “My beautiful, favorite granddaughter. How are you? Where did you go today?” He asked, strolling back to his seat while I took a seat next and began to munch on the food displayed on the table. “I’m okay but I’m worried about you.” He smiled lovingly as I pouted. “You’re just like me, you know? We care about everyone around us and smile so brightly no one can see what’s underneath the smile. Plus you might not know this but I used to dance.” I laughed, raising my eyebrow in questioning.
“Really?” “For Broadway at that, and packing all the girls. Your grandmother used to be so jealous.” I just smiled looking at him in disbelief. “I want you to be happy with or without me here. I want you, my beautiful grand-daughter, to be with someone who will take care of you even when I’m no longer here.” He spoke and my heart began to grow heavy. “Don’t speak like that grandpa. You’re talking and behaving like you’re going somewhere soon.” He gave me a look that basically said, “Just look at me.” My eyes watered but he placed his hand onto mine, making me stare into his eyes gazing at his aged features, “Don’t cry sweetie, what does grandpa hate seeing the most?” “Seeing me sad.” I responded, wiping my eyes with my free hand after a moment of utter silence. “Exactly, just smile, be happy and live. Tonight, we are meeting with the Andersons and guess who is coming?” He said teasingly and I laughed rolling my eyes playfully.
“Ross will be coming tonight.” I knitted my eyebrow making a stank face. “Grandpa, I don’t even like him anymore and don’t tell me, you and Grandpa Philip are still trying to ship us after I have been crushing on him for years and he had ignored me all while.” Ross was a handsome man, I mean I hadn’t seen him in years, but I had only seen him in magazines and he was a Greek god. I had made jokes to Evelyn that ‘he was my man’ but I didn’t really mean it. It was just like seeing a handsome celebrity and claiming him. “Yes. And as much as I want your happiness, I strongly believe Ross will be the right person to take care of you, love and make you happy if the world says it’s my time to leave. So what do you say Terr, to get married to ROSS ANDERSON?” My eyes went wide and shock was written on my face. Marriage? My grandfather coughed removing his hand from on top of mine and when he checked his hand, my eyes watered seeing blood in his hand.
“Grandpa…” I called out trying to reach out to him but he shook his head. “I really don’t have much time left, I am dying and I have only a short time left but before I die, I want to make sure you’re safe and your happiness is secure. I really need you to marry him for my sake, so I can rest in peace.” His voice was weak and tears were falling from eyes. Without giving it a second thought I said, “Yes, Grandpa, I will marry him. I will marry ROSS ANDERSON.” TERRA’S POV: 3 MONTHS LATER: My Wedding: “They will get married tomorrow. The gown is set, invites have been sent out, Ross will be back soon, the event is prepared and the media will be there as well. It will be perfect.” I watched as Grandpa Philip, Ross’ mum, and their assistants, event planners, and staff discussed among each other. I sat there just listening without actual hearing. It didn’t matter, I had made a promise to my grandfather to get married to Ross so I would do that, because the thought of my grandfather not resting peacefully just because of my selfishness didn’t sit well with me.
As they continued to discuss, oftentimes calling my attention to a detail, I would force a smile and just nod in agreement. I noticed Mrs Anderson, Ross’mother, had been quite strange since I had arrived. She had been cold and though I vaguely remember our encounters, I didn’t feel she had ever been this way. She barely spoke to me and when she did, it felt perfunctory. “Are you okay, Terra?” Grandpa Philip asked and I simply nodded with a smile on my face. Every Time I hear that question, I just feel my heart getting heavy. It felt so unreal that I would never get to hug, have a dialogue with my grandfather ever again. Evelyn had been next to me, taking care of me and being a shoulder to cry on. “Alright, see you tomorrow. Congratulations soon to be Mrs Anderson.” The event planner was so jovial and energetic, said to me as she and the others exited out of the sitting room with Mrs Anderson following behind them. “You know you can always talk to me, Terra. Whenever and whatever you need, I’m just a call away.” He spoke with sincerity in his eyes. “Thank you.”
He nodded standing up and I did the same before hugging him. After we shared a hug, the doors to the entrance bursted wide open and the whiff of woody cologne I had caught at my grandfather’s funeral ceremony followed the man who had just stepped in. My eyes that were blurry with tears blinked away in order to see properly, the man who I was certain was Ross walked towards me in a clean black suit and a black well-polished suit. He was literally the most handsome man I had ever seen, his gray eyes which I had rarely seen on anybody was so attractive but as he stared at me his eyes nor his face held no emotions. “Hey Grandpa.” He greeted but his gaze was on me, staring at me with an unreadable expression. “What’s up Grandson? I doubt you have met Terra yet and likewise. Terra, this is my handsome grandson, Ross. Ross, Tera. I will leave you two to get acquainted.” Grandpa Philips gave Ross a pat on the back, walking out of the room.
As soon as we were alone, I smiled small, waiting for him to say something but nothing came. He just gave me an overlook and left the whole sitting room, leaving me standing there while I watched his retreating figure. Is this the person Grandpa will ensure my happiness and safety? WEDDING DAY: I was now alone in the dressing room after getting glammed up and I just kept staring at my gown in amazement. I felt like a beautiful Disney princess, I just teared up looking at myself. I missed him. I secretly hoped that this marriage would indeed bring me happiness in the midst of the chaos and sadness going on in my head. “Are you ready?” No one better than Grandpa Philip was there to walk me down the aisle. He looked about ten years younger in his white suit and though he was bald, he seemed to have cut out extra hair. “Yes.” As he led me down the aisle, with a bunch of people I didn’t know staring at me and the violin softly playing in the background. I smiled brightly when I made contact with a familiar face, Evelyn, who looked gorgeous in her pink gown with petal patterns printed on the gown and she stood next to her boyfriend, as I loved to describe him, her betrothed.
Her eyes watered as she stared at me with admiration, walking further I looked at Ross’ mom looking at me Judyly talking to a lady who seemed around my age bracket. I tensed up feeling like everyone was judging me rather than adoring me as I had thought. Grandpa Philip must have noticed, as he turned towards me. “Ross might be a little cold, uptight and rude sometimes and things might not always be smooth sailing but I assure you, as time goes on his hard exterior will crumble and he will just be the loving man you need.” I nodded at his words, but when I stared far ahead seeing Ross in his white suit which suited him perfectly, he had a look on his face that I couldn’t just read and I hated that. His gray eyes burned through my soul and it made me feel uncomfortable. “Thank you.” I said to him as we finally arrived at the altar which he handed me to Ross. I smiled awkwardly as he held my head and the officiating priest began.
After exchanging rings and repeating after the priest the vows, the part of a wedding I had totally forgot approached as the priest said, “You may now peck the bride.” My heart race picked up and I finally looked into Ross’s eyes for the first time since I arrived at the altar. His eyes were on me and he moved closer to me and I just shut my eyes tight waiting for him to just reject me or whatever. I was baffled when I felt his lips on mine, and as we shared a peck I could have sworn I felt a spark and I am certain he felt the same as he pulled away looking at me with a puzzled expression. “I now pronounce you Husband and wife.” The crowd went into a fits of applause and Ross and I turned to the crowd who was clapping and celebrating us. I smiled brightly as at this exact moment I felt nothing but pure happiness. I strongly believe that as we shared the peck, it meant we were indeed meant for each other and we were going to leave happily ever after. Right?
TERRA’S POV: THAT EVENING: Heartbroken: We were now at the reception where a bunch of business acquaintances were congratulating us, the newlyweds. I was rather silent, just grinning in response. I had met Ross’ best friends since childhood and the two of them were hilarious, they had a few stories to share but Ross wouldn’t allow them. He looked like he was tired of this wedding and he wanted to be over..I kind of felt the same. “Congratulations, my favorite Nephew. I had no idea you were even seeing anyone after Nina.” Ross, who was smiling after sharing a hug with the lady, frowned at the name, Nina. This was the first time I had seen him smiling, and he looked breathtaking. This is my husband…wow…I thought to myself in amazement. “I’m happy to see you Aunty.” She rolled her eyes in a full circle at his simple response then diverted her attention towards me. “Terra, right?” I nodded in response as she held onto my two hands, staring at me throughly.
She looked at Ross through the corner of her eyes and he raised his hands up in surrender before leaving. “You are a beautiful woman, gorgeous even.” She complimented, using her thumb to caress my hand. “Thank you ma, you are too.” I said in response, keeping a smile on my face. She just kept staring at me for a moment and I shifted uncomfortably. “I really hope you indeed have a blissful marriage, you know? You seem like a gem and my sister over there might not see it right now and I hope it’s not too late when she eventually does.” Her face held hurt and she sighed deeply letting my hands go. “Congratulations again.” She said then left me standing there trying to process her words. So I was right that Ross’ mom did not like me? Will she hurt me or do something to me? My head was hurting and I was beyond exhausted as it is tiring to go about greeting people and maintaining a smile on my face. Evelyn and her boyfriend had left a few minutes ago as her boyfriend had an emergency. I didn’t hear what exactly Evelyn had said but I heard a family member might have been rushed to the hospital.
I just hope whoever it is gets well. I felt so alone in my wedding, from where I stood I saw Ross speaking to the lady who was next to his mother earlier. I debated whether to walk towards them or just mind my business. I decided the latter would be the best as I was nosey. “Hi.” I announced my presence standing next to Ross who I felt kind of short beside. “Hi Terra, it’s so lovely to meet you like actually see you up close. You looked like an angel.” She gave me an overlook and gave me a small smile. “Thank you. You’re…” I asked, I heard Ross suck his teeth and groan. “I’m Nina, you will get to see me alot I assure you. Well, it was nice to meet you. Congratulations you two, I pray y’all have a bunch of kids.” She giggled then walked away. His ex-girlfriend at his wedding? Interesting. “Are you ready to leave? The driver is getting the cars ready…” He started scrolling through his phone as we walked side by side. I had no idea we were going, I just kept following.
“Yes, I am. But umm…Where would I…sorry I mean we are staying?” I questioned and he looked up from his phone staring at me and then looked back down without uttering a word. “Rude prick.” I muttered under my breath and he seemed to have heard, making him scoff. It was announced that newlyweds were leaving and though most people had already left, others who were present wished us and threw petal of flowers on us until we entered into the backseat of his Rolls Royce, I made eye contact with the Real Mrs Anderson and she make a stank face walking away with Nina. She really loved Nina. After getting comfortable and they helped me fit in my gown into the car, the driver drove us out of the parking lot. I was about to speak but Ross set his phone down and pressed a button preventing the driver in front from hearing our conversation. “Let me make a few things clear. My grandfather simply compelled me to get married to you which is why we are together now so do not expect anything from this marriage.” I knitted my eyebrow together taking in his words.
“Also, I can assure you, that the years or however long we are together, I will ensure that you’re safe and you live in comfort and luxury but do not expect any form of affection nor expect me to perform any duties as your husband. We leave our own separate lives all while living together, do you understand what I’m saying?” I felt all types of emotions at this moment, all I got from all he had said was, he wasn’t never going to love me so I shouldn’t expect that neither was he even planning to be even be friends with me. All he could promise was to provide which basically entails comfort. I nodded at his words facing the window and watching the day come to an end, and the night was just beginning. At least Grandfather could rest well knowing I would be safe and I promise him, with or without Ross, I will make myself happy and avoid living in misery.
I had just settled into my room, my clothes and shoes including new things had already been arranged in the closets. I took a seat at the edge of my bed moisturizing my skin after about an hour long shower. I cleared my throat realizing I was thirsty, I tied a pink robe covering the small nightgown I had found in my walk-in closet. One of the maids had given me a small tour after we got into the house and Ross basically discarded me, refusing to say a word. He was such a weird, rude, annoying fellow. I walked into the large kitchen and was glad at the utensils and equipment in there. I was so excited to explore and make a bunch of delicacies I had been planning on. I opened the refrigerator and stood there wondering where the cups were. “Getting ready for your wedding night?” The maid I had met earlier, whose name was Maria, asked, handing me a glass cup. “Excuse me?” I was quite startled at her unexpected entry, I hadn’t heard her well.
“I’m sorry, don’t mind me. Have a good night MRS ANDERSON.” She quickly scurried out of the kitchen. I looked at her retreating figure puzzled, I let out a breath and carried my glass of water with me upstairs. I arrived back in my room and set the glass of water on my nightstand then took off my robe. I sighed as I still hadn’t gotten a message back from Evelyn. I plugged in my phone and was about to switch off the light when a loud knock came through my door. “What are you doing here?” I stared at Ross who seemed drunk as anything. He just stared at me before attaching his lips onto mine and pecking me passionately. This night marked the first time I had ever had intercourse and it was awesome. We went at it a couple times before we both passed out due to exhaustion after such a passionate night. Our marriage was definitely locked in after tonight and I was happy. Until the next morning when he woke up and shattered my heart into a million pieces with the following words, “What happened last night should never have happened. It was a mistake, I was drunk. We should never have.” And picked up his belongings and exited out of the room.
3rd POV: 3 MONTHS LATER: Humiliated: It was a beautiful Saturday Afternoon when Terra had decided to cook a recipe she had found online. She had been craving a lot of sweets. She hummed a soft tune playing from her phone dancing around the kitchen with pure excitement and happiness. She had always loved dancing but it was simply a hobby. Evelyn had tried to convince her to do it professionally along with cooking as well because Evelyn swore Terra was better than some many chefs out there. The past few months had been exceedingly long for Terra and Ross, Terra assumed she was the only one who felt like the days were long because she wasn’t doing anything, she was simply cooped up in the house but a few weeks ago when Ross’ office was going through a renovation, Terra had overheard him saying the same thing she had been feeling. She sometimes felt miserable and lonely in the house, Evelyn was out of the country practicing and preparing for her big interview and would most likely settle there, and she had no other friends except Evelyn.
Ross was as cold as ice since their wedding night, he never uttered a word to her and ignored her greetings so much that she stopped greeting him. No words were exchanged between the two. Especially after Terra had noticed a lipstick stain on Ross’ white collar, she was so heartbroken and refused to even look him in the eye. Everyday for Terra, was a lonely, miserable day and it was beginning to get frustrating. As she danced around the large kitchen, she was so into the steps, she failed to see Ross standing there leaning on the door frame watching her body move with intrigue. He was so amazed by her, she was extremely talented, as he had tasted some of the dishes she had made and mentally concluded that she was the best cook. And he had also seen her a few times practicing taekwondo, she was not to be played with.
Terra grinned from ear to ear as she concluded her steps, with her back turned away from Ross, she did a bow like she had just performed, waving to the non-existent crowd and this seemed to have tickled Ross Funny bone as he chuckled softly making Terra turn around looking at him with wide eyes. “You’re back.” She pointed out and Ross instantly masked up his amused expression replacing it with his regular blank face. She exhaled when he didn’t reply, checking the snacks she was preparing in the oven. Why do I even try? She thought to herself wearing the cute pink mittens she had purchased. “The make-up artist and stylist will be here in about thirty minutes.” He informed her, grabbing a bottle of water and leaving the kitchen. She stomped her foot on the ground and huffed, they were headed to her Ross Mum’s birthday party that was the talk of the city. Terra did not want to be there as she had figured his mother did not like her in the slightest nor did she. But she had to fulfill her duty as Ross’wife so was going to dress beautifully and do as she was told. And before I know it, the party will be over and I come back and rest in bliss. She smiled taking a bite out of the cookies moaning at how delicious it is.
Terra and Ross arrived at the event noticing the media outside taking pictures and talking to a few business tycoons and millionaires who gave them the time of the day. “Be on a good behavior.” She looked at him with a bored expression as he held her hand helping out of the car. The paparazzi instantly began to take pictures of the couple delighted at the beautiful A-line spaghetti straps corset back dress Terra had on and the beautiful red gown had a slit at the side. Her brown hair was curled, making her look like a goddess. Ross was amazed when he saw her but failed to give her a compliment and just gave her a look to hurry up as she elegantly walked down the stairs in the mansion. “You look amazing.” “Mr and Mrs Anderson, you two are such a beautiful couple.” Reporters said flashing cameras as they continued walking into the event. Terra was almost smiling but quickly caught herself. As soon as they entered into the hall, Terra smiled looking in awe at the beautiful decorations and extravagant attires everyone had on. The Andersons were a wealthy family owning different chains of luxurious hotels, it was no wonder they were only associated with the successful and just being invited into their events was a big honor. “Good evening.” Ross and Terra greeted Ross’ aunt who was standing next to his mother and Nina, they were laughing and discussing until the couple arrived. “You look so beautiful.”
His aunt complimented and to Terra’s surprise Ross’mum hummed in agreement. “So beautiful, I bet the reason you two are late and missed my grand entrance was most likely due to the fact that the stylist couldn’t fit Terra into that gown.” Mrs Anderson spoke while sipping her wine and Ross who was now looking around for his friends paid no attention to them. Terra shifted uncomfortably, feeling a pang of hurt at Mrs Anderson hidden meaning. “Happy Birthday Mrs Anderson. You look gorgeous but If you will excuse me…” Terra stumbled on her words making eye contact with Ross who was now speaking with Nina, then walked away in search of the bathroom but before she could leave the hall, she met Grandpa Philip. 3rd POV: “Darling, where are you in such a rush to?” He asked and she blinked repeatedly before smiling brightly. “To the bathroom.” She answered simply before hugging him. Mrs Anderson and Nina, whom she loved so much though she was Ross’ ex-girlfriend but at a scary point in Mrs Anderson’s life, Nina was the one who came through for her.
So she trusted her with her life and would do anything for her. Mrs Anderson and Nina stare at Grandpa Philip and Terra interact with a puzzled look. Who was she? And why did he want Terra and Ross to get married so bad? Mrs Anderson wanted Nina and Ross together married and having her beautiful grandchildren so anytime she saw Terra, she was simply irritated. “It’s time for you to get changed into your second outfit, my favorite one.” Nina announced, accompanying Mrs Anderson who grinned from ear to ear in excitement, she couldn’t wait for the women to gush over her outfit. After interacting with Grandpa Philip and he had informed her he was on his way out, Terra went to the bathroom checking her physical features and trying to fight back the tears in her eyes. Was I indeed fat? She questioned herself, giving herself an overlook a bunch of times. She sighed, shutting her eyes and thinking of something positive. She thought of something beautiful that she hadn’t shared with anyone yet and instantly a genuine smile spread across her face. She whipped out her phone, taking a mirror picture and sending it to Evelyn.Â
She retouched her lip gloss and went back out in search of Ross. With happiness all over her, she requested for a Cranberry juice and the waiter immediately went ahead to get it for her though feeling it was strange. “Thank you so much.” She sipped out of it happily and in excitement walked to her seat, as she couldn’t skip in such an outfit and gold Ysl Heels. Her phone dinged in her purse and continued her journey to the table she had last seen Ross, her eyes were on her bag and she failed to realize Mrs Anderson was coming in her extravagant white gown, everyone was amazed and clapped for her as she entered back into the ball again. While Mrs Anderson was now heading back to her reserved seat, she collided with no one other than Terra, making Lydia’s juice spill on Mrs Anderson’s gown. The crowd gasped and the media began to record, the whole hall was filled with utter silence. “I’m so sorry, Mrs Anderson. I wasn’t looking at where I was headed..” Terra apologized trying to clean the dress but Mrs Anderson who was furious stepped back and looked down on Terra.Â
“Do you know how much this gown cost? Do you know?” She snapped and Terra jumped feeling the eyes of everyone on the two of them. “How would you know? You have never ever gotten or worn something this expensive nor have you worked for a single dime a day in your miserable life which is why you have the audacity to try and cross me. Because I told you, you were as fat as a cow. Laying all day doing nothing but spending my son’s money like a common gold-digging bimbo that you are.” Each word that came out of the mouth of Mrs Anderson held weight, everyone recorded and whispered amongst each other. Terra in this moment wished this was all a bad dream. She tried to convince herself this was a bad dream and she would wake up soon because she couldn’t believe it. “You think I won’t find out you are not only sleeping with Ross but also my son’s grandfather, because of money. You see this is what happens when you let a lowlife come into your family, they take and take and have no respect for expensive materials.Â
Do you even know how much your gown costs? You would have to work for over sixteen years and sleep with all the tycoons to be able to afford that. Such a gold-digging, miserable, pathetic, shameless bimbo….you disgust me.” A single tear dropped out of Terra’s eyes, as Mrs Anderson spoke all Terra wanted to hear was her husband’s voice, if not anyone else, saying, “Mum, that’s enough.” Or anything to end such a humiliating experience. But nothing, everyone just let her get humiliated, she made eye contact with Ross who wasn’t too far away. He stared at her nonchalantly and after his mum was done insulting and embarrassing his wife, he went ahead to grab a champagne then looked away meeting Nina who came to talk to him smiling.Â
Everyone in the hall stared at Terra who stood in the middle of the hall shedding tears and no one came to her rescue. She took slow steps walking in shame watching as people looked at judgely. With each step, she concluded that there could never be happiness in this house and family. She wiped away her tears, pain, humiliation, disappointment resulting in anger. She was done with Ross. “I will get the papers sent to you by tomorrow morning, I want a divorce.” She told Ross as soon as they stepped into the house. I was going to divorce Ross Anderson and raise this child that was conceived on our wedding night…alone… I did not need him. Terra spoke to herself storming away from Ross.
