I remembered he asked me a question, so I took in huge gulps of air to calm myself down, before answering him. “Well our parent’s flight were rescheduled, so I had to come earlier and I was also told you are not at home,” I made a mental note to give my mom an earful. “And for the record, I wasn’t staring at you, I was staring at the wall.” He scoffed before walking toward me, my heart skipped a beat when he stopped in front of me and I willed myself not to do anything stupid. He bent down in front of me, his eyes stayed on mine as if he is testing my patience, before picking up my largest suitcase. “Come with me,” he started walking up the stairs that lead to the rooms in the house, he stopped at one and opened the door before gesturing for me to go in. “Thank you,” I said turning to him. He just grunted and left after dropping the suitcase. Guess he still doesn’t like me. MIKE I brushed my hand over my face, my eyes wide as I stared at myself in the mirror, I didn’t intend to do that but I did. This was the same reason why I left years ago and why I didn’t want her to come over.
You guess it right, I’m attracted to her since the first day we met at that family dinner. I know most men are repulsed by the fact that they are step-siblings, but it does nothing to diminish my attraction for her. My phone brought me out of my distraction, I pulled it out of my back pocket and checked the caller. “Dan, what’s up man?” I called, my face twisting at his bad timing. “Nothing, I called your office but you were unavailable,” I could feel him shrugging from the other end. “So,” I prompted, I knew there was more to his story. “So I’m about to get to your house right… about… now.” Just as he said that my alarm went off indicating there is someone at the gate.

She turned to look at me and I could see a faint blush staining her cheeks and neck.
“Thank you,” she whispered and I felt like she was referring to my acknowledgement of her. “It’s the truth honey, you don’t have to thank me for stating the obvious,” I looked at my friend, and the stupid grin was still etched on his face. I almost hit my palm on my head at his stupidity. All through the meal, Dan kept flirting with Jesse and she didn’t turn him down. She kept encouraging him which made my blood boil but I kept my silence still. I tried to butt into their conversation, just to get his attention away from her but they wouldn’t let me, it was as if they knew what I was planning to do before I even did. I tried again, this time I turned to Jesse, but just like Dan. I was booted out of the conversation before it even started.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Dan smirking as if he won a prize. He looked at me, before turning his gaze to Jesse. “Uhm, Jess, I was thinking… Do you want to go out with me tomorrow night, we can maybe have some fun, while I get to show around?” he asked and I lost my mind. “No.” JESSE “No.” I turn to stare at Mike in surprise, I wasn’t expecting him to interfere. “What do you mean no?” Dan glared at him. “No,” he stated again, glaring right back at him “Do you have a problem with me taking your sister out?” Dan growled at Mike, his expression turning stony at once. “Yes,” he said and my eye widened He is joking, right? How can he have a problem with a guy taking me out, it’s not like he has feelings for me right?
